Registration underway for the 35th Annual Wild Irish Run

The Guntersville Recreation Department is taking registration for the 35th Annual Lake Guntersville Wild Irish Run 10K and 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk set to take place March 16.

The 10K race will begin at 9:00am and the Fun Run/walk will start immediately following the 10K at approximately 10:30. Awards ceremony will start around 11:00am.

To register stop by the Recreation Department office at 1500 Sunset Drive during office hours, from 8am to 5pm Monday thru Friday. Forms can also be faxed, mailed and emailed if requested.

This race is among North Alabama’s oldest and most scenic courses. The 10K is a loop course on all paved roads. It has small rolling hills and half the race goes through downtown Guntersville, the other half follows beautiful Lake Guntersville,. The course is certified with USA Track and Field. Course maps are available at the Rec Center.

Pre-registration will take place until Wednesday March 13, with the entry fee being $20. After March 14, through race day the fee is $25. The first 200 entries will receive commemorative long sleeve Wild Irish Run t-shirts. There is no cost to run the Fun Run/Walk unless you wish to receive a t-shirt then the regular race fee applies. Race day registration will begin at 7:00am at the Rec Center.

Awards for the Wild Irish Run will be given to the overall first place male and female finishers. Medals will be given to first, second and third place male and female finishers in 14 different age categories. Ribbons will be given out for all finishers of the 2 mile Fun Run/Walk.
