UPDATED: Three seriously injured in wreck on Hwy 431

Three people were taken to the hospital in serious condition after a multi vehicle accident on going down the mountain on Hwy 431 in Guntersville on Friday night.

The head on collision happened around 7:55 pm near the Jackson Trail entrance close to the top of the mountain.

Traffic was blocked for an hour as firefighters worked to free drivers from the wreckage.

Travis Halliwill, 37 years-old of Guntersville, was taken by ambulance to Huntsville Hospital.

Travis Calvert, 33 years-old of Gadsden, was transported to Marshall Medical South by ambulance.

Tommy Qualls Jr., 27 years-old of Piedmont, was taken by ambulance to Huntsville Hospital.

After medics freed Calvert from his vehicle, 2 baggies of cocaine were discovered in the vehicle.  Calvert was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

Guntersville Police are investigating the accident.
